The Auction House of the Russian Federation has signed an agreement with the international legal group Norton Rose Fulbright

On 12 November 2013 in Moscow, at a meeting of the inter-governmental Russian-British committee for trade and investments, under the chairmanship of the first Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov and the British Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Vince Cable, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Auction House of the Russian Federation (AHR) and the international legal group Norton Rose Fulbright.

According to the agreement, Norton Rose will provide investors from Britain who are interested in acquiring state property of the Russian Federation with consultations on various legal aspects of the privatization process. The company will also provide consultation services to the AHR on issues connected with the way that English law functions.

“Investors abroad are showing interest in acquiring objects in Russia, but in taking decisions on purchases, they are often stopped by the difficulties involving differences in legislation between the countries. We believe that the AHR’s cooperation with a law company with an international reputation will be an important step towards increasing the access and transparency of taking part in privatization for investors from Great Britain,” comments Andrei Stepanenko, the general director of the AHR.

In the course of discussion of one of the topics of the committee meeting – attracting the attention of English investors to Russian privatization – Igor Shuvalov noted that over the past few years the privatization climate in Russia had significantly improved. In many ways, this has taken place thanks to the efforts of leading investment consultants involved in privatization, among which he mentioned investment banks and the Auction House of the Russian Federation.
