“Antikvarnoe Obozrenie” (Antique Survey) Magazine
The magazine has been published since April 2000. It was the first professional magazine to cover issues of the antiques market in Russia. The columns cover the main antique categories: painting, decorative and applied art, porcelain, icons and religious items, jewelry, items of interior design and weapons. Furthemore, new categories of antiques constantly appear on the market, which are accordingly covered in the magazine. There are columns about problems of attribution, technical and artistic expert evaulations, and the history of collecting. The magazine also covers modern art, and discovers new names and remembers unjustly forgotten ones. Since it first appeared, the magazine has gained popularity and a wide circle of readers, which not only includes representatives of the antiques market, collectors, art historians and museum specialists, but also readers interested in history and art. The authors of the articles (about art history, restoration and attribution) and also the scientific consultants are leading specialists in a number of fields: muszeum employees (the State Russian Museum, the State Hermitage, the State Tretaykov Gallery, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Art etc.), archives and libaries, experts of the Ministry of culture and mass communications, and renowned collectiors. The magazine is also popular abroad. It covers the activity of such auction houses as Christie's, Sotheby's, MacDougall's, Bukowskis, Bruun Rasmussen etc. The magazine has won awards from antique salons and jewlery exhibitions, and in 2003 it won the order of Carl Faberge of the 3rd degree.
